So, you’re n longer a naive fresher, but a fully-fledged second year student. When you go back to university after the summer break, you feel like a whole new you. Finally, you get a chance to look down on those silly little first-years. Ah, it’s the dream! Here are some of the struggles you will face.
1. You realise how much weight you put on in first year

All those late night pizza sessions and takeaways did not do you well, did they? The truth is that most students put on a little weight. Urgh. Time to hit the gym.
2. Then you remember that you can’t be bothered

When it comes down to it, nobody has time to hit the gym every day when they are at university. About three days in, you think ‘Ah, screw it!’
3. You start to embrace who you really are

The first year, you were a bag of nerves and anxiety. Now, you’ve kind of worked out all your kinks and now you’re ready to take on the world.
4. You start to feel seriously poor

In the first year, being poor was a fun novelty. Now…. Well, you’re kind of over it. It seems like there is no way out of this poverty.
5. Your housemates start to do your head in

Remember, you have actually chosen to live with these people. Now, if you don’t get along, that’s your own fault. Silly.
6. You try to stay out of housemate drama

But that is quite literally impossible. It doesn’t seem to matter how hard you try, you are getting dragged kicking and screaming into every fight.
7. Then you finally lose your cool

After trying to be nice and stay out of things, you begin to realise that it’s time to have your say. You have to unleash your inner sass just to survive.
8. Going to classes is actually exhausting

In your first year, you spent all your time chilling and watching Jeremy Kyle. All of a sudden, things are serious and now you actually have to attend classes. What?!
9. Even when you try, your grades are not as high as you expected

The pain of seriously trying to excel and still almost failing is so real. When it comes down to it, it’s better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all. If only your lecturers saw it that way.
10. Group projects are the bane of your life

“Oh, sure! I’ll do all your work for you while you just sit there and do nothing,” said no one, ever. Group projects are a special form of torture.
11. Then your grades actually start picking up

Halfway through the year, your grades magically get better. Maybe it’s the fact that you have become smarter… Or maybe that you can’t afford to go out anymore so you’ve started studying.
12. Exams are the actual worst

When you have to take your exams at the end of the year, it is one of the scariest things ever. But, once you’re finished, you could actually dance with happiness.
